Join a small group limited to 15 guests on this Cadiz shore excursion that includes a scenic and a walking tour of the oldest town in Europe.
Meet your local guide close to the port. The first part of this guided cruise excursion starts with a panoramic tour of Cadiz from the comfort of your A/C coach. As you depart, you will pass a 18th century Moorish style tobacco factory before stopping for a visit of the city Protecting Walls of Puerta de Tierra, one of the city iconic spot.
Re-board your coach and head towards the Royal Prison and the colourful Campo Sur district. As your coach progresses through the ancient town, you will stop to admire the stunning view of La Caleta Bay, the former Phoenician port before entering Santa Catalina Castle, a 16th century military fortress.
You will carry on to the Falla Theatre, centre of the biggest carnival in Spain before strolling in Genoves Park, Cadiz botanical garden. On the way to Plaza España, where your walking tour starts, you will stop to see the Alamada Apodaca, a shaded area with Moorish gardens and fountains.
Your guide will introduce you to the history of the 1st Spanish Constitution while admiring the imposing Las Cortes monument. Get inside the heart of the old town where the picturesque Mina square, (home of the 19th century bourgeoisie of Cadiz) San Francisco and San Antonio square await your visit. Stroll inside the narrow streets enchanted by stunning balconies and indoor patios and enjoy the rare beauty of Cadiz.
Get your camera ready to catch a view of the 19th century palaces that fill Calle Ancha, and hear how Cadiz became the richest town in Europe at times of New World Exploration.
The Flower Market and the Central Market will give you an insight into the local life. Marvel at the watching towers that surround the historical centre like the Tavira Tower before seeing the Cathedral of Cadiz.
Your exhilarating visit will end after a tour of the Populo medieval quarter and a visit of the Roman Theatre.
