Explore Arcos de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia and Vejer de la Frontera on this private shore excursion departing from the port of Cadiz. Meet your local guide in front of the Cruise Terminal and sit comfortably in your A/C minicoach with your private group of up to 15 guests.
As you start the White Washed Villages Route, the beauty of the landscape with olive and sunflower fields blending harmoniously will charm you along the 40 minutes journey. Perched on a hill 200 metres above sea level, Arcos de la Frontera stretches majestically over the Guadalete river valley.
Your licensed guide will take you around the Old Town (declared Historical Site) where the maze-like narrow streets, ancient archways and breath-taking views will enchant you. Some of the sights you will see include Arcos Castle (15th century fortress), the Matrera Gateway (11th century) as well as the Santa María Basilica Church.
Break for a coffee or a glass of Sangria at one of the medieval corners and sense the authentic Andalusian atmosphere. You will be given some free time to look for one of the finest local wines, fine pottery or leather items.
On your journey to your next village, you will come across the famous “Ruta del Torro”, (the bull route) where hundreds of them can be seen breading peacefully in the spectacular valleys.
The next village you will explore is Medina Sidonia, a Moorish Kingdom for more than 500 years. The town is characterized by medieval walls and tidy narrow cobbled streets flanked by rows of reja-fronted houses. See Medina Castle, the Roman archaeological complex and visit the 16th century Church of St Mary the Crowned which boasts incredible dimensional artwork.
Continue your visit to Vejer de la Frontera reknown for having one of the most beautiful and best preserved historic-artistic settings in Spain.The impressive Moorish looking hilltop village is shaped by four medieval town gates combining Moorish and Christian architectural styles. As you explore the Old Quarter, you will see the Castle, the manor houses "Palacio del Marqués de Tamarón" and "Casa del Mayorazgo" as well as the 14th century Divino Salvador Parish Church. This pleasant walk will take you through beautiful houses flanked by inner patios filled with flowers.
Have lunch in one of the local seafood restaurants before boarding back your private transport.
Back in Cadiz, your guide will take you on a scenic tour before dropping you back in front of the Cruise Terminal at least an hour before departure.
